iHappy

Yep.
I'm a happy girl.
Usually I'm not a techo-gadgety-obsessed-nerd, but I'll tell you what, whenever this thing hit the media months ago, I fell in love. (Similarly to the way I fell in love with the Dodge Charger whenever I saw one of those for the first time on the street. Took my breath away. Isn't that weird? I'm so not a car person, but I dream about one day owning a Charger...)

Isn't it strange how some things unexpectedly grab us at times?

Party on!

So, I thought I'd try my hand at making a regular sized party hat, rather than the Mr. Potato Head size I attempted first... The "leaves" are actually made from the insulator around today's Starbucks Peppermint Mocha.... Such fun. You know, I think I finally found my "trademark"... I really like the whimsical look of black and white next to color, as seen here. What's your trademark? Do you find yourself reaching toward a favorite thing each time you go to create? Is there a technique you lean toward? Something that differentiates your work from that of others? Do you think it's important to have a trademark? Hmmm... Things to ponder...

Get Carded...

Hope y'all had a happy Saturday!

Just a few photos of what I did today...

Simply, the unexpected...

A beautiful frame can make even the most simple things look spectacular, don't you think? I had so much fun creating this little piece. It makes me happy to look at it... I just love framing unexpected things like this. It adds a bit of whimsy to one's home... Now, I must hunt for a place to hang it...

P.S. I was so excited to see that this project was featured at the top of the Two Peas in a Bucket gallery today! Made my day. :)

Sorry ladies... He's taken...

Yep.
Mr. P.
Completely taken.
By my son.
A birthday gift.
A Transformer Potato Head.
I thought he looked better with his new hat instead of his helmet though.
So, for the sake of the photo, we switched.
My first attempt at hat making.
I thought I'd start small.
The last photo is my son's hat.
He made it himself.
I see he's partial to my new Martha Stewart punch as well. :)
That and some crazy cut rectangles.
A little Scenic Route.
A little Amy Butler.
He has good taste for a four year old rough and tumble boy.
He wore it while we painted on the sidewalk this morning.
Fun times.

Who would have known?

Who would have known that four years could have gone by so quickly?
Silly boy.
Night all.

Simply Chic

Finally!
I used my new fabulous Martha Stewart punch!
Such a tasteful company.
I'll never get tired of their stuff.
Have a happy Father's Day everyone!

Let's indulge... Shall we?

Okay. So if you made it all the way down here without gaining five pounds or running to your pantry for a sweet treat, I totally commend you.
Let's just let our thoughts wrap around these dreamy confections for a moment...
Classy. Chic. Stylish.
And yes.
Utterly and completely edible.
So, in the spirit of living vicariously through one's blog, which ensemble is your favorite?
Snag 'em here, at Eleni's...
Amazing little works of art, aren't they?

Never Enough...

So, I feel a girl can never have too many black dresses...
If I had the budget, I would totally purchase all of these.
Like, ten minutes ago.
Such fabulous little unique details on each and every one.

I love them all.
(Especially the last photo of the jacket!)

From Nordstrom.

First in forever...

All right, here is a glimpse of the first actual scrapbooking layout I've completed in FOREVER. It says, "We always knew you were a great grandma. Now, it's official."
The lady in the photos is my Grandma Elaine, and the little dude, is my little man in one of my FAVORITE outfits of his- a little sailor suit.
(For those of you who kind-of know me but kind-of don't, NO, I didn't have another child! This is just a three year old photo. Lol.)
Have a happy evening everyone!

With this post...

Wow.
Who would have ever imagined I would have a one hundredth blog post?
I surely wouldn't have.
I do enjoy writing.
I must be in the right mood to write though.
I haven't been lately.
My mind has been on other things.
Good things.
Funny, the first postings to my blog were lengthy musings about how everyday situations reminded me of a bigger picture...
My, my posts have gotten shorter, haven't they?
Ah, well.
I'll think of something blog-worthy to contemplate on tomorrow...
So, the name of my blog is Elegance. Redefined...
Let's talk about that, shall we?
I'm all about timeless, classic elegance, with a modern or whimsical twist.
Then simplified.
Nothing too fussy or frilly.
Nothing too old or distressed looking.
Nothing too modern.
Somewhere in the middle.
A mish-mash of Ballard Designs, if you will.
A trendy take on traditional elegance.
That's me.
That's my blog.
And that, my blog friends, was my 100th post.
So, what's your style?

I've had a thing for...

So, lately, I've had a thing for argyle.
I only have a moment.
Just wanted to share.
Sweet dreams everyone! :)

And two shall become one...

This post signifies the end of my other blog, Divine Pick of the Day. From now on, any Divine Picks are going to become Delaney's Picks and they'll all be shown right here.
On this blog.
So, adjust your bookmarks everyone.
You're in for some eye candy here!

That being said, isn't this scarf smashing?
Oh, I just adore it.
I'm really not a scarf person.
But I'd like to be.
I could be if I owned this.
It's linen and silk people.
Click on the photo above to check it out at Anthropologie...

What's left behind...

The drying paint on my son's palette before his nap today.
Isn't that the sweetest thing?
He's only three. Almost four.
I'm teaching him color theory.
Gotta love that.

Wanna know my favorite song?

Backyard playtime...

My son and I were playing ball in our backyard this balmy afternoon when I noticed our neighbors roses creeping over our fence. Thankfully, our neighbor has a greener thumb than I... So, amidst catching and throwing, I grabbed my ever-present camera and attempted several quick photos.

I'm saving my pennies for THIS. In the meantime though, I'm still making due with my 3.2 MP FinePix I bought years ago... My birthday is coming up though...
*grin*
